Skimming:
Generally, when wallpaper is stripped off internal walls, we all want to have nice clean painted or freshly papered walls, but it's not unusual to find the walls underneath the paper are cracked or holed etc. This can happen to the most cared for walls as well as any other, it's just what happens after time. If this is what you have then we can make your walls look brand new ready for painting or repapering.
Don't worry about your most prized flooring style (wood finish, carpet etc), we take great pride in making sure we cover every area of the room and floor whilst work is in progress.
Artexing:
We're usually asked for most artexing styles/patterns to go on ceilings, but still also asked for walls as well. If you already have an artexing pattern on your ceilings or walls, we can re-skim the surfaces first and then apply your new chosen style/pattern of artex.
Arches:
We can do any style of arch you wish to have. You can have arches which divide two rooms into seemingly one large room - You can have an arch which separates two rooms with a smaller version of an arch, which is smaller than a room divider, but larger than a serving hatch - You may also wish to have your arch created on an external wall going into a garage from a main internal room, or any other creation you wish to discuss with us.
We will obviously finish off the chosen arch with a perfectly smooth skimming.
Partition Walls:
Many requests we get are for partition walls to be placed strategically to divide one room into two etc. This can be done very easily and can create the feel of an additional room or two, in your house/building. This is ideal for larger bedroomed houses to create an extra bedroom or an en suite bathroom/WC.
Coving:
This gives a gorgeous look to any room. Coving can marry walls and ceilings up in wonderful, different styles and is becoming more and more popular. You can have a straight forward popular style coving style, or for the more adventurous, we can discuss another point of view you may have in your mind's eye.
Dry Lining:
When any new internal wall is errected, dry lining plasterboards are the most popular way of covering the internal wall build before plastering of any fashion can take place. These are fastened to the internal wood build with nails and lost under the final coats of plastering. Plasterboards can be cut to fit any shape of wall/design.
The most commonly used thicknesses of plasterboard available are 12.5 mm (modern equivalent of half an inch), typically used for walls, and 9.5 mm (modern equivalent of three-eights of an inch), typically used for ceilings. 15 mm thick board is commonly available, and other thicknesses are also produced.
Plasterboard is commonly made with one of two different edge treatments: Tapered Edge, where the sides of the board are tapered at the front to allow for jointing materials to be finished flush with the main board face, and Straight Edge, where there is no different thickness at the side of the board.
Repair Work:
We can quote you on any style of building repair work you require. There are too many types of repair style jobs to list, so please contact us with your requirements and we'll assess the job from there.
Rendering:
External rendering (cement mortar & sand). It's usually applied in two coats/stages. The first is a scratch coat this is applied to the brickwork to flatten out the joints etc, also known as a scratch coat.
The second coat is two thirds sand which is applied a day later, and is worked to a smooth finish.
General Plastering:
We can come and price up any job type of plastering job required (none too big or small), please contact us and we can either discuss the requirements over the phone or we can arrange a time that's best for you for us to come and see you.
Damp Proofing
We are in association with a Damp proofing company who can offer a full range of Damp proofing services.
Venetian Plastering
For centuries, fine artisans have been creating beautiful walls through the use of limestone plasters, coloured with natural ingredients. As you travel through the Mediterranean countries you are able to see these walls, softened with a rich patina by age or decorated with various artworks such as Tromp L’Oeil. But you don’t need to travel to Europe any longer as these plaster techniques have been introduced to the UK. They have caught the attention of Interior Designers and Architects in a major way.
Polished Plaster is an Old World technique that starts with limestone rocks from rivers or quarries. By the use of heat, water and time, the limestone is turned into an amazing “lime putty”. Mixed with such colorants as ground marble dust, and applied via steel trowels with refined techniques, Polished Plaster turns an ordinary wall or ceiling into a masterpiece.
Although some Polished Plasters are polished or “burnished” with a sheen, techniques have been developed to give a multitude of different effects from suede to marble to stone. It is through the artisan’s imagination and the refinement of technique that truly wonderful effects are created. These effects can be used in many styles such as Old World, Contemporary, Tuscan, Traditional, etc.
